This is probably the most frequently asked question I get. So here are some ideas for you to consider.
Based on your decision, I will select the most suitable background. For instance, if you want to wear dark clothes, I would use a lighter backdrop as opposed to a basic black. If you have bright or white tops, I’d probably use the black curtain backdrop so you will “pop” on the pic.
For a professional headshot, let’s think in terms of a couple different outfits. Plan to bring more than one suit / top to wear for all the shots. We will use multiple backdrops and I’ll also explore with color and black & white exposures to give you the professional look you are going for.
If it’s a group picture, think about colors that work for everyone. You may want to wear red for the “Dawgs”, but if your family’s skin tone or hair color aren’t complementary, then we can explore other ways to show your pride. Maybe we pick a more suitable color and include the iconic bulldog in the group shot.
One other note on group shots… most people like to wear one color top and another color bottom, i.e. jeans with a white shirt. While this works quite well, you may also choose to alternate colors by generation or gender. For instance, have all the first descendants in blue, and their children in white. Or all the men is white polo’s with the women in turqoise tops.
I’ll leave you with this… some of my best shots are the warm up shots without all the pre-planned wardrobe selections. This captures the real essence of the subject. Remember – it’s not bad to be you. 🙂
